My series, "Inspired by the Upanishads," was based upon my favorite excerpts from the book Upanishads --the best-selling translation of the ancient wisdom texts by the author, Ekanath Easwaran.
The Upanishads are the sage's wisdom and spiritual teachings exploring the consciousness -- the Self, looking inward.
Finding Wholeness
We are always in a race because of the several roles in which we identify ourselves within our family and community. While we take on these identities, we often run towards only those that meet our wants, and somewhere along the way, we forget to pause and understand the truth in us, the Self, the wholeness at our core.
As the rain on a mountain peak runs off
The slopes on all sides, so those who see
Only the seeming multiplicity of life
Run after things on every side.
